SW Neighborhood Depository/Recycling Center at 10785 Southwest Fwy (near Beltway 8)

Don't want to wait for Heavy Trash Day? Have more stuff to recycle than space in the green cart? There's a great new place to take bulky items, tires and all the usual recycling items. It's just off the Southwest Freeway near Beltway 8. (Go out the SW Fwy, exit for the Beltway 8 frontage road, take the U-turn and it's on your right--look for the sign.)


You must have a driver's license AND your latest water/utility bill to prove you're a Houston resident. The site is open five days a week, Wednesday through Sunday, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Westpark Recycling Center

The Westpark Consumer Recycling Center is a drive-through facility at 5900 Westpark near Fountainview/Renwick. It is open Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. It accepts:

  • Glass containers -- NEW! No longer accepted curbside in green cart!
  • Clean block-style or packaging polystyrene foam
  • Used tires

  • Computers and residential electronic scraps

  • Batteries

  • Oil and oil filters

  • Latex paint

  • Antifreeze

  • Cardboard

  • Plastic containers – #1 or #2 only

  • Aluminum and tin cans

Environmental Service Center

This drop-off center for household hazardous waste is located near Marilyn Estates at 11500 South Post Oak, just north of the railroad tracks near Highway 90 (South Main).

It is open every Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the second Saturday of every month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Environmental Service Center is a free service for city of Houston residents. It accepts:

  • New! Clean block-style or packaging polystyrene foam
  • Acids

  • Aerosol cans

  • Batteries – all kinds

  • Antifreeze, brake fluid, power steering fluid and transmission fluid

  • Car waxes

  • Craft/hobby chemicals

  • Drain cleaners

  • Electronic scrap items – computer monitors, CPUs, televisions, VCRs

  • Fertilizer

  • Fluorescent lights (including CFLs)

  • Fuels

  • Herbicides and pesticides

  • Household chemicals

  • Motor oil and oil filters

  • Paints/stains, paint thinners, spray paint, paint thinners, turpentine and varnishes

  • Tires (limit 10)

The Center will NOT accept:

  • Ammunition and explosives

  • Medical waste

  • Propane and butane cylinders

  • PCBs and dioxins

  • Radioactive material (smoke detectors)

  • Waste generated by businesses
